Webinar "Ecological monitoring of environment based on satellite data"

26.08.2019 18:24

On October 15, 2019, Noosphere Engineering School will hold publicly available free webinar “Ecological monitoring of environment based on satellite data” at the premises of the Space Research Institute NASU and SSAU.

The webinar will be helpful and interesting for all those concerned about climate changes, particularly – for environmental science students, who will be able to upgrade their skills through gaining new knowledge.

The training sessions will be held at the premises of the Space Research Institute NASU and SSAU #NESKyivSRI by the experts from Noosphere Engineering School as well as from EOS – the U.S. company which develops the tools to analyze geodata and data of the Earth’s satellite monitoring, Land Viewer – a service for the real-time processing and analysis of the Earth’s imagery, and Vision (Aspectum) – a cloud ecosystem for visualization and analysis of geodata. They will familiarize students with publicly available sources of satellite data and will teach them to software implementation of the algorithms for handling the geospatial information aiming at using the satellite data to address the challenges of the ecological monitoring of environment.

The webinar will be held within the framework of EU Code Week and Meet-and-code initiative, being implemented by the GURT Resource Center in cooperation with TechSoup Europe and Haus des Stiftens gGmbH and funded by SAP.

The webinar program includes:

1. Familiarization with fundamentals of satellite and geospatial data.

2. Familiarization with the tools for handling the geospatial data.

3. Practical use of satellite data for environmental monitoring:

• monitoring of the state of lands;

• assessment of the dynamics of changes in forest lands;

• monitoring of the growth of urban agglomerations;

• satellite data to cope with an adverse impact of natural disasters (fire, flood, etc.).

Upon completion, every student will receive the participant’s certificate and access to the commercial platforms Land Viewer and Vision (Aspectum).

Date of the webinar: October 15, 2019, 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Participation in the webinar is free of charge.

The sign-up for the webinar will start in early September. Follow our updates!
